Severe duty motors are available from 1 HP to 700 HP and are specifically designed for applications requiring protection from severe environmental operating conditions. Typical applications include petro-chemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, rock crushers, and chemical plants. Key features of these motors include Super-E Premium Efficiency, a 1.15 service factor, a corrosion-resistant epoxy finish, regreasable ball bearings, and an oversized rotatable cast iron conduit box. They also feature a Forsheda® shaft seal, moisture-resistant copper windings, Class F insulation, a stainless steel nameplate, corrosion-resistant hardware, and are tropicalized. These attributes make them suitable for use in tropical climates and other processing industry applications that require enhanced corrosion protection.
