Severe duty motors are available from 1 HP to 700 HP and are specially designed for applications requiring protection from severe environmental operating conditions. Typical applications include petro-chemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, rock crushers, and chemical plants. Key features of these motors include a Super-E premium efficient motor, a 1.15 service factor, a corrosion-resistant epoxy finish, regreasable ball bearings, and an oversized rotatable cast iron conduit box. They also feature a Forsheda® shaft seal, moisture-resistant copper windings, Class F insulation, a stainless steel nameplate, and corrosion-resistant hardware, as well as being tropicalized. These attributes make the motors suitable for various processing industry applications requiring enhanced protection against corrosion.
