Severe duty motors are available from 1 HP to 700 HP and are specially designed for applications that require protection from severe environmental operating conditions. Typical applications include petro-chemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, rock crushers, and chemical plants. These motors feature a Super-E premium efficient motor, a 1.15 service factor, and a corrosion-resistant epoxy finish. They come equipped with regreasable ball bearings, an oversized rotatable cast iron conduit box, a Forsheda® shaft seal, moisture-resistant copper windings, Class F insulation, and a stainless steel nameplate along with corrosion-resistant hardware. The motors are also tropicalized, making them suitable for use in tropical climates and other processing industry applications where protection against corrosion is essential.
