Severe duty motors, ranging from 1 HP to 700 HP, are specifically engineered for applications that necessitate robust protection against severe environmental conditions. Common usage includes sectors such as petrochemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, rock crushers, and chemical plants. These motors feature heavy gauge steel and cast iron frames, ball bearings, ISR® (Inverter Spike Resistant®) copper windings, and low-loss electrical grade lamination steel. They are designed for continuous or frequent duty operations and are classified with Class F insulation and a 1.15 service factor. Additionally, they are inverter rated per NEMA MG1 Part 31.4.4.2, making them suitable for variable torque applications and constant torque speed ranges when used with properly sized and adjusted variable frequency drives. The motors come with a three-year warranty, ensuring reliability and performance in demanding environments.
