Severe duty motors are available from 1 HP to 700 HP and are specifically engineered for applications requiring protection from harsh environmental conditions. Typical applications include petrochemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, rock crushers, and chemical plants. These motors feature heavy gauge steel and cast iron frames, ball bearings, ISR® (Inverter Spike Resistant®) copper windings, and low-loss electrical grade lamination steel. They are designed for continuous or frequent duty, with a Class F insulation and a 1.15 service factor, and are compliant with NEMA MG1 Part 31.4.4.2 for inverter applications. The motors are suitable for both variable torque applications and constant torque speed ranges when properly sized and adjusted with variable frequency drives. The product comes with a three-year warranty.
