Severe duty motors are available from 1 HP to 700 HP and are specifically designed for applications requiring protection from severe environmental operating conditions. Typical applications include petro-chemical plants, mines, foundries, pulp and paper plants, waste management facilities, rock crushers, and chemical plants. These motors feature heavy gauge steel and cast iron frames, ball bearings, ISR® (Inverter Spike Resistant®) copper windings, and low-loss electrical grade lamination steel. They are designed for continuous or frequent duty and aim to conserve energy over extended periods. The motors are Class F insulated with a 1.15 service factor, inverter rated per NEMA MG1 Part 31.4.4.2, and are suitable for variable torque applications as well as a constant torque speed range when used with properly sized and adjusted variable frequency drives. Additionally, these motors come with a three-year warranty.
