The dock board is designed to enhance loading operations by preventing accidents and reducing labor costs. It features an anti-skid diamond tread surface and beveled curbs for maximum safety, while its lightweight construction ensures excellent portability and corrosion resistance. The high-strength aluminum board includes full-length welded aluminum curbs for added rigidity, helping to prevent operator run-off. A curb provides a full-length handgrip for ease and safety in handling, and a safety stop on the underside fits snugly between the truck and dock to prevent movement under load. An 11-degree angle is standard unless another operational angle is specified, with an 11" entry lip that has a rounded nose to protect tires. The dock board complies with OSHA requirements 1910.30(a) and can be reversed when the truck is lower than dock level. Capacity is determined by the combined weight of the maximum pallet load and lift truck, with a rating for a single shift at equipment speeds of 3 mph maximum. For multi-shift operations or when using 3-wheeled forklifts or trucks with paper roll clamps, an additional 5000 lbs. should be factored into the board capacity. The width of the board should be 12" greater than the lift truck or load, with the most popular width being 60". Usable width is 4" less than the overall width, and it is not recommended to use stackers, 3-wheeled forklifts, or other narrow aisle loaders on the dock board. Special dock boards are required for refrigerated trucks.
