Clear drain seals eliminate guesswork regarding their effectiveness by providing a visible inspection of spills entering drains through surface cracks, grating imperfections, or other irregularities that may compromise the seal. The seals are composed of a clear material that offers an unobstructed view of covered drains, allowing responders to confirm a complete seal is achieved. Designed for emergency response plans, spill kits, SPCC, and stormwater management programs, these seals feature a reinforcing mesh "sandwiched" between layers of polyurethane, which enhances durability and resistance to tearing. The unique urethane construction enables the pad to deform and seal off most drains, allowing it to temporarily adhere to any smooth surface. The seals are reusable as long as they have not been exposed to degrading chemicals and can typically be cleaned with soap and water, although they are not recommended for long-term use.
