Precision Brand 316 stainless steel shim is crafted from a soft (annealed) temper material and offers superior corrosion resistance to most chemicals, salts, acids, and marine atmospheres due to an addition of 2.0 to 3.0% molybdenum. The fabrication characteristics of Type 316 are comparable to those of Type 302 and Type 304. This shim measures 6 inches wide by 50 inches long and has a thickness of 0.002 inches. Type 316 stainless steel is commonly utilized in chemical and food processing equipment, as well as in photographic, pharmaceutical, marine, and textile finishing equipment. Precision Brand® is noted for being the only manufacturer to provide Branded® shim, which is fully traceable; the thickness, material type, and lot number are printed directly on the shim material for quick identification.
