Precision Brand 316 stainless steel shim is constructed from a soft (annealed) temper material, providing enhanced corrosion resistance to various chemicals, salts, acids, and marine environments due to the addition of 2.0 to 3.0% molybdenum. The fabrication characteristics of type 316 are comparable to those of type 302 and type 304. The shim measures 6 inches wide by 12 inches long and has a thickness of 0.015 inches. Type 316 stainless steel is widely used in applications involving chemical and food processing equipment, photographic tools, pharmaceutical machinery, marine environments, and textile finishing equipment.
