The KDW features a textured frame and bead that allows for the application of drywall joint compound in sufficient thickness to effectively conceal the flange. It includes prepunched holes in the flange to facilitate fastening with drywall screws to framing members. The trim is constructed from galvanized steel drywall bead. The hinge is a concealed, continuous piano hinge, while the latches can be either flush and screwdriver operated or equipped with a key-operated cylinder lock that includes an automatic dust shutter. The finish consists of a prime coat of rust inhibitive electrostatic powder, baked grey enamel. The frame is made of 16 ga steel, and the door is constructed from 14 ga steel.
