O-1 tool steel is a general-purpose oil-hardening tool and die steel that offers good results in hardening with minimal dimensional changes when treated with normal care. It features good abrasion resistance and sufficient toughness for typical tool and die applications. In terms of machinability, O-1 has a rating of 90 when compared to 1 percent carbon steel.
