The Ulti-Mat consists of a single piece of very strong webbing that runs the full length of the unit, encapsulating both head and foot end pulling straps, along with two body straps tailored for both tall and short patients and a leg strap. Once the patient is placed on the unit, they can be enveloped for security by the wings on either side, then secured by the webbing and buckles, allowing for safe transport via the head and foot pull straps. The base of the unit features four carrying handles in high visibility yellow. The Ulti-Mat can also be rolled up into its self-contained pouch/foot pocket for convenient compact storage. Key features include the ability to quickly deploy the mat for vertical and horizontal evacuation, enabling staff to transport patients weighing 2 to 3 times their own weight without lifting, utilizing a roll and drag method. The webbing design provides patient stabilization, while the sled curves and wraps around the evacuee for added protection, with two securing cross straps ensuring safety during transport. Additionally, each sled rolls up compactly into its own carry bag and is compatible with backboards or basket stretchers.
