Brass nipples are manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230, which provides enhanced machinability and improved resistance to brittleness compared to yellow brass, as well as superior corrosion resistance (won't dezincify). This material offers excellent corrosion resistance against water and heat, effectively resisting attacks from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Brass is predominantly used in commercial plumbing and OEM applications involving water, but it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
