Brass nipples are produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230, which is easier to machine, less brittle to work with, and far more resistant to corrosion than yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. The material provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, and it effectively resists attacks from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water.
