Brass nipples are produced from seamless red brass pipe, which is alloy 230. This material offers several advantages, including easier machinability, reduced brittleness, and superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. The brass provides good resistance to corrosion from water and heat, as well as protection against salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water.
