Brass nipples are produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically Alloy 230. This type of red brass is advantageous as it is easier to machine, less brittle to work with, and exhibits superior resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, which can suffer from dezincification. The characteristics of brass provide good corrosion resistance against water and heat and help it resist attacks from saltwater, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. This material is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, but it also serves effectively in oil, gas, and steam applications.
