Brass nipples are produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. This material is easier to machine, less brittle to work with, and significantly more resistant to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. The attributes of brass include good corrosion resistance against water and heat, as well as the ability to resist attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils present in water. Brass is primarily utilized for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, but it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
