The 3M™ Stikit™ Gold Paper Disc Roll 216U is designed for convenience, featuring open coat aluminum oxide discs with an adhesive backing for quick attachment to a Stikit backup pad (sold separately). This disc roll allows for easy access to discs while eliminating the need for disc liners. Ideal for use with a random orbital sander, these discs are constructed from durable aluminum oxide abrasive grains attached to a lightweight paper backing, making them suitable for lightweight sanding and finishing tasks. The open coat and load-resistant coating help prevent loading, extending the service life of the discs, and they are well-suited for general sanding and finishing applications on various substrates, including paint, primer, wood, metal, plastic, and composites like fiberglass. The discs come ready to use with a pressure-sensitive adhesive coating on the backside for easy pressing onto a backup pad, and they remove cleanly without leaving residues. They should be used in conjunction with a Stikit backup pad (sold separately) on a random orbital sander. The open coat construction prevents loading by allowing dust and debris to collect in the spaces between the abrasive grains, which provides a more aggressive cut compared to a closed coat abrasive of the same grade, leading to faster results.
