The Jet JTM-2 vertical milling machine features a Jet-designed certified Meehanite® casting with enhanced ribbing for improved rigidity and tolerance retention. It includes a swing-away control box with an E-stop that places all controls at the operator's fingertips. The innovative machine base design allows for easy leveling without lifting the machine off the floor. It has an automated oiler that releases 3 to 6 cc/cy of lubrication every 30 minutes. Safety features include a heavy-duty spindle brake that stops the spindle and interrupts power to prevent accidental start-ups, and a swing-away safety shield. The electrical box is located at the back of the mill and contains two 115V outlets for powered accessories. The machine is CSA/CUS certified and is equipped with class 7 spindle bearings to maximize rigidity during heavy cutting applications. The spindle head is internally cooled to extend the life of the bearings, belt, and motor. The table and ways are hardened up to 54 HRC and precision ground for enhanced accuracy, with X and Y-axis coated in Turcite-B to minimize vibration and ensure smooth movement. Additional features include an LED work lamp, chip pan, dual locks on all movable surfaces, way covers, a drawbar, and a toolbox with tools. Specifications include power feed for the X and Y-axis, R-8 spindle taper, a table size of 9" x 49", a quill diameter of 3-3/8", a variable number of spindle speeds ranging from 60 to 4,500 RPM, quill down feed rates of .0015, .003, and .006 IPR, a spindle travel of 5", and head movement of 90° R & L and 45° F & B. The maximum distance from spindle to table is 20-3/4", while the distance from spindle to column ranges from 4-3/4" to 18-1/8". Collet capacity is from 1/8" to 7/8", with table longitudinal travel of 36" and powerfeed longitudinal travel of 30-3/4". The table cross travel is 12-5/8", with three T-slots measuring 5/8" and T-slot centers at 2-1/2". The work table weight capacity is 720 lbs, and the travel of the knee is 15-3/4".
