This large size general-purpose drill features a three-flatted 1/2" reduced shank and is manufactured from high-speed steel substrate. It includes a 118° split point designed for easier and more precise penetration, a standard overall length of 6" with a flute length of 3-1/8", which enhances rigidity, reduces deflection, and improves hole accuracy. The standardized lengths facilitate minimal adjustments during tool changes in screw machines and machining centers. The three flats on the shank provide a more positive grip in the drill chuck, effectively reducing slippage under high loads, making it ideal for portable drilling applications. It is finished with a black and gold (barber pole) oxide coating, which increases wear resistance and enhances lubricity to improve chip flow. This drill is suitable for use wherever maximum chuck capacity is 1/2" and is effective for drilling in carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and wood.
