The tissue culture treated surface of the plates enhances cell adhesion, while alpha-numeric markings on each plate facilitate easy identification of individual wells. Each well features a raised rim that nests into the rings on the single direction lid, effectively reducing evaporation and minimizing the risk of cross-contamination. The lids are designed with a stacking feature that provides added stability when handling tall stacks of plates. The 1 well plate has a footprint equivalent to standard multiple well plates, making it suitable for high volume and robotic screening of DNA libraries as well as manual plating. It is also applicable for dot-blotting bacterial clones on 11.4 x 7.3 cm (4.5 x 2.875 in) nylon membranes. The 4 well plate provides a smaller footprint option with well sizes comparable to those of a 24 well plate, featuring expanded well spacing to further limit cross-contamination. The 384 well plates are particularly optimized for automated applications, colorimetric assays, compound storage, or scenarios requiring small volume applications.
