The tissue culture treated surface of the plates enhances cell adhesion, making them suitable for various laboratory applications. Each plate is equipped with alphanumeric markings for easy identification of individual wells, while the raised rim of each well nests into the rings on the single direction lid, reducing evaporation and minimizing the risk of cross-contamination. The lids also incorporate a stacking feature for increased stability when handling tall stacks of plates. The 1 well plate shares the same footprint as standard multiple well plates, facilitating high volume and robotic screening of DNA libraries as well as manual plating; it is also compatible with dot-blotting bacterial clones on 11.4 x 7.3 cm (4.5 x 2.875 in) nylon membranes. The 4 well plate offers a smaller footprint with well sizes comparable to a 24 well plate, designed with expanded well spacing to further reduce cross-contamination. Meanwhile, the 384 well plates are optimized for automated applications, colorimetric assays, compound storage, or small volume applications.
