The permeable cell culture inserts are designed to mimic in vivo conditions, featuring a configuration that centers the inserts in wells to prevent the membrane from contacting the sides and wicking between the insert and well wall. The membrane remains suspended above the well bottom, facilitating co-culture techniques where one cell line can be grown inside the insert while another is cultured below in the well. These inserts are ideal for various applications, including drug transfer assays, transport studies, migration assays, and cell-cell interaction studies. Cultures can be easily transferred to fresh media by relocating the insert to a new plate. The inserts are available with different pore sizes, including 0.4 µm, which is optimal for co-culture and drug transport studies, as well as 3.0 µm and 8.0 µm pore sizes, which are suited for angiogenesis and chemotaxis experiments. The carrier plate is tissue culture treated to promote cell adhesion, while non-treated plates are sold separately.
