30% glass-filled nylon rods and plates are designed for applications that require enhanced compressive strength and rigidity compared to standard unfilled nylon. The incorporation of glass fibers significantly strengthens the nylon, resulting in 200% better strength than general-purpose nylon. While the added glass improves tensile, compressive, and flexural properties, it also increases abrasiveness, which can lead to abrasion or galling of mating surfaces. This material is ideal for applications demanding increased load-bearing characteristics, stiffness, rigidity, and dimensional stability. However, it should be noted that the addition of glass fibers reduces the non-lubricated wear properties of the nylon.
