Kapton® film (Type HN Kapton) polyimide film from DuPont has more than 50 years of proven performance as the flexible material of choice in applications involving very high, 400°C (752°F), or very low, -269°C (-452°F) temperature extremes. This film is utilized in a wide variety of applications such as substrates for flexible printed circuits, transformer and capacitor insulation, sensors, and bar code labels. Additionally, it is used for wire and cable tapes, formed coil insulation, motor slot liners, magnet wire insulation, as well as magnetic and pressure-sensitive tapes, and tubing. Kapton® polyimide film possesses a unique combination of properties that make it ideal for numerous applications across various industries. It maintains excellent physical, electrical, and mechanical properties over a wide temperature range, which has opened new design and application areas for plastic films. DuPont™ Kapton® HN film excels in both low and high-temperature environments. Type HN Kapton film can be laminated, metallized, punched, formed, or adhesive coated. It is available in thicknesses from 0.0003" (7.5 µm) up to 0.005" (125 µm). Other grades of Kapton are available with attributes such as antistatic, thermally conductive, PTFE coated, cryogenic insulation, corona resistant, etchable, pigmented for color, and conformable.
