Torlon® balls are engineered for high-strength, wear-resistant ball bearings, making them ideal for high-load recirculating ball bearings. In automotive applications, Torlon check balls are utilized in 4-wheel-drive vehicle transmissions, significantly enhancing the durability of high-torque automatic transmissions in Chrysler models. These check balls, made from Torlon® poly(amide-imide) resin, are designed for various three- and four-speed transmissions connected to the Magnum engine product line. They can withstand system pressures, provide excellent sealing surfaces, and do so without causing damage to metal components or adversely reacting with transmission oil at temperatures nearing 300°F. In boating and sailing applications, Torlon® ball bearings are employed in headsail roller furlings, where the bearings in each swivel support the load, facilitating smooth furling of sails. An over center halyard attachment aids in uniformly distributing the load to each ball bearing, ensuring fluid rotation. Additionally, small boat traveller cars operate seamlessly, even under significant non-vertical loads, while low-load dinghy cars incorporate Delrin bearings. High-load cars designed for large dinghies, keel boats, and offshore vessels up to 27 ft (8m) use Torlon® balls to maximize load-carrying capacity.
