The Kimble® Kimax® soil testing cylinders are designed for measuring particle size distribution in soil suspensions using a hydrometer, adhering to ASTM D422 and AASHTO T88 standards. While the 1205 mL size is not specified in the standard method, it proves useful in specific applications. The 1000 mL cylinder is suitable for pipet methods of mechanical soil analysis. Both cylinders feature a round base with a diameter of approximately 107 mm, enabling compatibility with typical metal baths used in soil testing. These cylinders are calibrated to contain and are constructed from durable white ceramic enamel and 33 expansion, low extractable borosilicate glass, meeting USP Type I and ASTM E438, Type I, Class A requirements.
