The Imhoff cones, designed for measuring sand and other settled matter in water and sewage, are molded from glass-clear, unbreakable styrene acrylonitrile. Each cone features continuous graduations up to 1000 mL, making them particularly suitable for tests involving a high volume of settled matter. Each cone includes a leakproof polyethylene plug, which allows for easy withdrawal of sediment for gravimetric analysis and simplifies the cleaning process. The graduations are marked in the following divisions: 0-2 mL in 0.1 mL increments, 2-10 mL in 0.5 mL increments, 10-40 mL in 1 mL increments, 40-100 mL in 2 mL increments, and 100-1000 mL in 50 mL increments. For optimal viewing, the lightweight Poxygrid® cone racks support three or four cones in a single row, keeping the tips elevated above the benchtop for easier access and plug removal if necessary. The wire frame racks are designed with a wide base for stability and are epoxy coated for durability and ease of cleaning.
