The kit is designed to protect sample quality by enabling homogenization within a microcentrifuge tube. It features a stainless steel mortar with a welded fixture to securely hold a 1.5ml microcentrifuge tube, which is suspended above a stainless steel cavity containing liquid nitrogen, all nested within a heavily insulated blue polyethylene housing. This design allows for grinding of smaller amounts of tissue directly in the 1.5ml tube, significantly reducing sample loss and collection time, while preventing tube cracking by eliminating direct contact with liquid nitrogen. The kit also includes a 12.7cm (5") long stainless steel pestle with a 1.9cm diameter and a 10.2cm wide (4") polyethylene handle, and is equipped with suction feet to ensure stability on the workbench.
