3M™ Polyurethane Sealant 540 is an all-purpose, single-component, moisture-curing, gap-filling polyurethane that creates permanently elastic seals and bonds in a wide variety of service environments. This sealant features multi-purpose bonding and long-lasting seals, is permanently elastic to allow joint movement, and has a skin time of 60-90 minutes, becoming paintable once the skin forms. It offers good UV resistance and simplifies production with its one-component, moisture-curing formulation. The sealant effectively bonds dissimilar materials, providing increased design flexibility, and is capable of gap filling. Recommended applications include vertical and horizontal panel bonding and joint sealing, aluminum curtain walls and storefronts, transportation manufacturing, including bus, rail, truck, and trailer, as well as serving as a replacement for mechanical fasteners in many situations.
