3M™ polyurethane sealant 540 is an all-purpose, single-component, moisture-curing, gap-filling polyurethane that creates permanently elastic seals and bonds in a wide variety of service environments. This product features multi-purpose bonding and long-lasting seals, allowing for joint movement due to its permanent elasticity. It offers a 60-90 skin time and can be painted once the skin forms, along with good UV resistance. The one-component, moisture-curing formulation simplifies production and enables bonding of dissimilar materials for increased design flexibility, while also providing gap-filling capabilities. Recommended applications for this sealant include vertical and horizontal panel bonding and joint sealing, aluminum curtain walls and storefronts, transportation manufacturing for buses, rail, trucks, and trailers, and the replacement of mechanical fasteners in various situations.
