The NextPette™ development project was initiated based on feedback from various researchers and technicians, leading to the creation of an ultra-lightweight and ergonomic pipettor that maintains durability, accuracy, and precision. This pipettor includes a volume adjustment system that allows for easy one-handed operation, with the uniquely positioned volume dial located above the handle and a user-facing volume display. It features an innovative, asymmetrically designed plunger button that can be adjusted to suit user preferences, rotating continuously between wide and narrow settings. The materials and components of NextPette™ were selected to minimize weight while ensuring longevity, with internal precision plungers made of stainless steel for the 1 µL, 10 µL, 5000 L, and 10,000 L models, and ceramic for the 20 µL, 200 µL, and 1000 µL models, all utilizing durable PTFE seals. The pipettors are designed for easy disassembly for service, with included silicone lubricant for maintenance. Recalibration can be performed in the lab without tools, and the instruction manual provides comprehensive guidelines for checking pipetting accuracy and recalibrating as necessary. The entire pipettor is autoclaveable, ensuring compliance with laboratory requirements.
