Scotch® Filament Tape 898 is a high-performance transparent packaging tape designed to offer maximum strength and durability, reinforced along its length with continuous glass-yarn filaments. This tape features a transparent 3M™ ScotchPro™ backing that provides excellent abrasion, moisture, and scuff resistance. The aggressive synthetic rubber adhesive ensures balanced performance with high adhesion and long-term holding power, making it ideal for applications such as "L" clip closures and "C" clip reinforcements. The clear polypropylene backing allows for visibility of printing and illustrations, while the tape meets ASTM D5330, Type II standards (replacing PPP-T-97E and CID A-A-1686A). The tape exhibits high shear strength, excellent aging, and offers good protection for filaments and adhesive to enhance package life during limited outdoor use. It is designed for ease of dispensing and handling, especially when used with a 3M™ dispenser. Scotch® Filament Tape 898 allows for effective advertising and warning capabilities when printed, and its low unit costs mean that less tape is needed for applications requiring high tensile strength. The tape holds instantly with minimal rubdown, ensuring that boxes remain securely closed through normal warehouse time cycles.
