Scotch® Filament Tape 898 is a high-performance transparent packaging tape designed for superior strength and durability. This tape features a transparent 3M™ ScotchPro™ backing that offers excellent abrasion, moisture, and scuff resistance, while its aggressive adhesive is specifically formulated for balanced performance, providing both high adhesion and long-term holding power. The tape is reinforced along its length with continuous glass yarn filaments, delivering very high tensile strength, making it ideal for "L" clip closures and "C" clip reinforcements. It is constructed with a clear polypropylene backing and a synthetic rubber adhesive, and it meets ASTM D5330, Type II standards (replacing PPP-T-97E and CID A-A-1686A). The tape allows for visibility of printing and illustrations through its surface and boasts high shear, excellent aging, and good protection of filaments and adhesive for extended package life. It is designed to assure maximum package performance, particularly in limited outdoor use, and facilitates efficient dispensing and handling when used with a 3M™ dispenser. The tape enables cost savings through reduced material usage on applications demanding high tensile strength and holds securely with minimal rubbing required. It keeps boxes closed during normal warehouse time cycles and delivers reliable performance across a wide range of application conditions.
