Scotch® Filament Tape 898 is a high-performance transparent packaging tape designed for optimal strength and durability. It features a transparent 3M™ ScotchPro™ backing that offers excellent abrasion, moisture, and scuff resistance, while the aggressive synthetic rubber adhesive is engineered for balanced performance with high adhesion and long-term holding power. This tape is particularly effective for "L" clip closures and "C" clip reinforcements, and it includes a clear polypropylene backing reinforced with continuous glass yarn filaments to provide exceptional tensile strength. It meets ASTM D5330, Type II standards and replaces PPP-T-97E and CID A-A-1686A. The tape allows for visibility of printing and illustrations, exhibits high shear strength, excellent aging characteristics, and provides good protection for filaments and adhesive, ensuring a longer package life. It is designed for limited outdoor use and facilitates efficient dispensing and handling when used with a 3M™ dispenser. The tape is cost-effective as it requires less material for applications that need high tensile strength, while maintaining secure closure of boxes even through normal warehouse time cycles.
