Scotch® Filament Tape 898 is a high-performance transparent packaging tape reinforced with continuous glass-yarn filaments, providing exceptional tensile strength. It features a transparent 3M™ ScotchPro™ backing that delivers excellent abrasion, moisture, and scuff resistance. The aggressive synthetic rubber adhesive is specifically formulated for balanced performance, ensuring both high adhesion and long-term holding power. This tape is ideal for "L" clip closures and "C" clip reinforcements, and its clear polypropylene backing allows for visibility of printing and illustrations beneath. Scotch® Filament Tape 898 meets ASTM D5330, Type II standards (replacing PPP-T-97E and CID A-A-1686A) and is designed for good protection of the filaments and adhesive, providing longer package life and maximum package performance for limited outdoor use. The tape offers high shear, great initial adhesion, and excellent aging characteristics, making it easy to dispense and handle with a 3M™ dispenser. It is efficient in usage, with low unit costs due to reduced tape usage in applications requiring high tensile strength. The tape holds instantly with minimum rubdown, ensuring boxes remain securely closed through normal warehouse time cycles.
