3M™ Scotch® 897 filament tape provides good holding with a minimal amount of tape under a wide range of application conditions. This glass-filament-reinforced tape is suitable for light to medium duty strapping, bundling, and reinforcing applications. Scotch® tape 897 features a synthetic rubber adhesive that sticks firmly to most surfaces and offers excellent moisture, abrasion, and scuff resistance. The tape has a thickness of 6.0 mil and features a clear Scotchpro™ polypropylene backing reinforced with glass yarn filaments. It possesses high tensile strength, allowing for printing and illustrations to be seen through the tape, and demonstrates good shear and initial adhesion along with good aging properties. The design protects the filaments and adhesive, providing a longer package life and maximizing package performance when exposed to outdoor and humid environments. This tape requires less material for applications where high tensile strength is essential and ensures a clear display of graphics, artwork, and other important messages, while maintaining boxes closed for extended periods of time.
