3M™ Scotch® 897 Filament Tape is designed to provide reliable holding under a wide range of application conditions, making it suitable for light to medium duty strapping, bundling, and reinforcing. This glass-filament-reinforced tape exhibits excellent adhesion to most fiberboard surfaces as well as various plastic and metal surfaces. The tape features a synthetic rubber adhesive that sticks firmly, and it offers excellent moisture, abrasion, and scuff resistance. With a thickness of 6.0 mil, Scotch® Tape 897 has a clear polypropylene backing that is reinforced with glass yarn filaments. The tape boasts high tensile strength and allows printing and illustrations to be visible through it. Additionally, it demonstrates good shear and initial adhesion, with a long aging capability, and provides protection for filaments and adhesive to extend package life. The tape is optimized for performance in outdoor and humid environments, resulting in less material needed for applications that require high tensile strength. It enables a clear display of graphics, artwork, and other important messages while ensuring boxes remain securely closed for extended periods.
