3M™ Scotch® 897 Filament Tape is designed to provide effective holding capabilities with minimal tape usage across a variety of application conditions. This glass-filament-reinforced tape is suitable for light to medium duty strapping, bundling, and reinforcing applications, and it adheres well to most fiberboard surfaces as well as a variety of plastic and metal surfaces. Key features include a synthetic rubber adhesive that ensures a firm bond, excellent moisture, abrasion, and scuff resistance, and a thickness of 6.0 mil. The tape boasts a clear ScotchPro™ polypropylene backing reinforced with glass yarn filaments, offering high tensile strength while allowing printing and illustrations to be visible through the tape. Additional attributes include good shear and initial adhesion, effective aging, and protection of filaments and adhesive that enhance package longevity. The tape maximizes package performance in outdoor and humid conditions, requiring less material for applications that demand high tensile strength, and it ensures the display of graphics and important messages remains clear. Moreover, it achieves a secure hold with minimal rubdown, keeping boxes closed for extended periods.
