3M™ Scotch® 897 filament tape is designed for a wide range of application conditions, providing good holding with minimal tape usage. This glass-filament-reinforced tape is suitable for light to medium duty strapping, bundling, and reinforcing applications. It features a synthetic rubber adhesive that sticks firmly to most surfaces, offering excellent moisture, abrasion, and scuff resistance. With a thickness of 6.0 mil, the clear Scotchpro™ polypropylene backing is reinforced with glass yarn filaments, ensuring high tensile strength. The tape allows printing and illustrations to be visible through it and provides good shear and initial adhesion, along with effective aging properties. It protects filaments and adhesive to extend package life, maximizing performance in outdoor and humid environments. This tape requires less application for high tensile strength needs, ensuring a clear display of graphics, artwork, and important messages, while maintaining boxes securely closed for prolonged periods.
