3M™ Scotch® 880 heavy-duty strapping tape is engineered for high performance, featuring continuous polyester yarn filaments that enhance its tensile strength, impact resistance, and cut resistance. This tape boasts a thick polypropylene film backing that is easy to handle and dispense, offering excellent resistance to nicks, abrasion, chemicals, and moisture. The specially formulated hot melt adhesive provides high initial adhesion, high shear strength, and excellent long-term adhesion on fiberboard, "non-oily" metals, and printed or painted surfaces. It is particularly suited for bundling heavy or sharp-edged objects, such as metal tubing and rods. The tape has a thickness of 7.7 mil and includes clear polypropylene backing reinforced with polyester yarn filaments and a synthetic rubber adhesive, making it printable while delivering excellent aging qualities. The tough film backing protects the filaments and adhesive, ensuring longer functional performance. The tape's good handling characteristics facilitate ease of dispensing and application, and it can serve advertising, warning, and labeling purposes when printed. The polyester filaments are designed to resist cutting during tabbing of metal coils, while also absorbing shock during rough handling, ensuring packages remain secure during shipping. With high tensile strength, less tape may be used in many applications, consequently lowering the cost per use. The translucency of the tape allows for clear visibility of artwork and critical messages, while the adhesive provides strong holding power across a range of application conditions with minimal tape usage. The tape holds instantly with minimal rubdown, keeping boxes securely closed throughout normal warehouse cycles.
