3M™ Scotch® 897 filament tape is designed for effective holding with minimal usage, making it suitable for light to medium duty strapping, bundling, and reinforcing applications. This glass-filament-reinforced tape features a synthetic rubber adhesive that adheres firmly to most fiberboard surfaces, as well as a variety of plastic and metal surfaces. With a thickness of 6.0 mil, the tape has a clear ScotchPro™ polypropylene backing reinforced with glass yarn filaments, ensuring high tensile strength and excellent moisture, abrasion, and scuff resistance. It allows for visibility of printing and illustrations through the tape, demonstrating good shear and initial adhesion, as well as durability against aging. The tape is engineered to protect its filaments and adhesive, enhancing package life, and maximizing performance in outdoor and humid conditions. Its design requires less tape for applications where high tensile strength is essential, while ensuring that boxes remain securely closed for extended periods with minimal effort in application.
