3M™ Tartan™ 8934 filament tape is designed for light-duty applications such as reinforcing boxes, duty strapping, and bundling light items. The tape features a clear ScotchPro™ backing that is scuff resistant and adheres well to various surfaces, including most fiberboard, plastics, metals, and corrugated materials. With a thickness of 4.0 mil, it consists of a clear polypropylene backing reinforced with glass yarn filaments and a synthetic rubber resin adhesive, providing abrasion and moisture resistance along with high tensile strength. This tape allows printing and illustrations to be visible through it, demonstrating good shear and initial adhesion as well as aging properties. The protection of the filaments and adhesive contributes to a longer package life, enabling effective use with minimal tape required for applications that prioritize high tensile strength. Additionally, it ensures that boxes remain securely closed for extended periods.
