Super Strong 3M™ 4936 VHB™ tape provides the simplicity of a tape fastener with incredible strength that in many situations replaces rivets, bolts, screws, spot-welds, liquid adhesives, and other permanent fasteners. This conformable, very high bond acrylic foam tape has enhanced performance for bonding to plasticized vinyl due to a specially formulated adhesive that resists plasticizer migration. The core adhesive composition is also well-suited for various paints and primers. Its improved conformability allows for more complete bond contact area when bonding rigid or irregular materials, although it has somewhat lower peel, tensile, and shear performance than other VHB™ tape products due to its inherent softness. The principal advantages of 4936 are its ability to provide a more uniform seal on irregular surfaces and offer a more aesthetically pleasing bond in visible applications under a transparent surface. It is suitable for a variety of interior and exterior industrial applications, including bonding mutin bars to windows, bonding pre-painted metals in truck assembly, and mounting vinyl wiring ducts and conduit channels. The tape features a multi-purpose adhesive on both sides of conformable foam, providing excellent bonding to relatively irregular surfaces and mixed substrates. It is resistant to moisture, solvents, and UV rays, with a temperature range of -40° F to 160° F. The product includes a kraft paper liner and is composed of dark gray acrylic foam with an acrylic adhesive, demonstrating excellent adhesion to metal, glass, and a wide variety of plastics. Additionally, it meets UL746C certification.
