The Ultra-Self Bailer® is designed to passively filter hydrocarbons from stormwater in outdoor spill containment products, addressing the challenge of rainwater filling containment sumps and reducing their capacity to hold chemicals, fuel, or hazmat. It attaches to any spill containment unit, typically via a bulkhead fitting, allowing rainwater to drain while the internal filter media removes residual oil, gas, or other hydrocarbons, permitting only clean water to exit. In the event of a spill, the media swells to completely seal off the self-bailer, preventing liquid escape. This device offers protection for non-monitored containment sites, eliminates issues related to rainwater collection, and installs simply on nearly any Ultratech containment product. Hydrocarbon sheens and modest spills are captured, and larger or more concentrated spills trigger an automatic shut-off mechanism. A manual shut-off valve is included for securing drainage operations and facilitating filter cartridge replacement. Filters are designed for quick and easy replacement, and the unit features PVC construction, ensuring it will not rust or corrode.
