3M™ Water Activated Paper Tape 6142 is a light duty, water-activated "gummed" adhesive tape designed to provide a strong seal to a wide variety of corrugated surfaces. It features a high-tack, water activated adhesive combined with reinforced 60 lb. kraft paper, ensuring the tape holds securely throughout shipping, handling, and storage. Available in white or natural kraft color, this tape is recommended for sealing lightweight packages using the optimal method of forming two C clips on each carton top and bottom. When activated with water, it easily conforms over carton edges and corners to form secure C clip and I clip seals, bonding effectively with fiberboard for durable protection in rigorous handling and shipping conditions. The tape is suitable for use on recycled cartons and non-unitized loads and is constructed for reliable performance across various environments and applications including food, beverage, medical pharmaceutical, paper, print, electronics, shipping, and distribution centers. Application is most easily accomplished at room temperature, and the tape performs well within typical temperature ranges encountered during shipping and storage. Semi-automatic application equipment is also available to improve packaging efficiency. The tape includes warranty terms as specified by 3M.
