The kit features a short arm L-key design optimized for access, allowing users to work closer to fasteners in tighter spaces with greater control, while larger sizes have longer keys to increase leverage where needed. The hex key geometry is precisely manufactured on the large end of the applicable range for a tight fit and minimal slop in fasteners. Tolerances are controlled by measuring both point-to-point and side-to-side dimensions to ensure high accuracy and consistency. A 20° ball angle increases access to fasteners while maintaining sufficient strength, and the keys have refined edges with slightly chamfered sides (except for very small sizes including 1.3 mm, 1.5 mm, 2 mm, 0.050 in., 1/16 in., and 5/64 in.) plus a smooth top face to optimize engagement. Made from heat-treated 8660 nickel chromium molybdenum steel rated at 54-58 HRC, the tools balance hardness and durability without brittleness. They are coated with a corrosion-resistant manganese phosphate finish, tested by submersion in 1% saltwater for 45 hours after cleaning with isopropyl alcohol, then rinsed and air dried. Except for the smallest sizes, each L-key is marked with both high-visibility laser and stamped markings for clear identification. The kit includes a specially designed holder that organizes the L-keys facing forward for quick access without removing other tools, with self-aligning slots shaped to guide the head of each key into position.
