The kit includes long hex keys made from heat-treated 8660 nickel chromium molybdenum steel with a hardness of 54-58 HRC, providing maximum torque strength that exceeds ASME standards for minimum torsion load and ISO standards for minimum proof torque. The keys feature high leverage due to longer sizes in the largest keys and have two measures of tolerance control—point-to-point and side-to-side—to ensure dimensional accuracy and consistency. Each key has a 20° ball angle to improve access to fasteners, a tight fit with fasteners on the larger end of the size range to reduce slop, and slightly chamfered edges (except for sizes 1.3 mm, 1.5 mm, 2 mm, 0.050 in., 1/16 in., and 5/64 in.) with a smooth top face to optimize engagement. They have a corrosion-resistant manganese phosphate finish tested by submersion in a 1% saltwater solution for 45 hours after oil removal with isopropyl alcohol, followed by rinsing and air drying. Sizes are clearly marked with high-visibility laser and stamped markings, except for the smallest sizes. The holder organizes the L-keys facing forward for quick access or can be arranged with keys facing to the side for low-profile organization.
