The kit features high leverage with longer keys in the largest sizes to increase leverage where it matters, and a tight fit with fasteners due to precisely manufactured hex key geometry on the large end of the applicable range, resulting in less slop in fasteners. Two measures of tolerance control are used, measuring hex key tolerances point-to-point and side-to-side to ensure the highest dimensional accuracy and consistency. A 20° ball angle increases access to fasteners while maintaining sufficient strength. The keys have slightly chamfered edges except for sizes 1.3 mm, 1.5 mm, 2 mm, 0.050 in., 1/16 in., and 5/64 in., which are too small to chamfer, and a smooth top face to optimize engagement with fasteners. Made from 8660 nickel chromium molybdenum steel heat-treated to 54-58 HRC, the L-keys provide maximum torque strength and consistently exceed ASME standards for minimum torsion load and ISO standards for minimum proof torque. They have a corrosion-resistant manganese phosphate finish tested through a 45-hour saltwater immersion after an isopropyl alcohol wipe and are marked clearly with high-visibility laser and stamped markings except for the smallest sizes. The holder organizes the L-keys facing forward for quick access without moving other tools and can be reoriented to face the keys to the side for low-profile organization. The kit complies with relevant ASME and ISO standards, and the tools come with a limited lifetime warranty.
